Iliopsoas (Ill ee oh so az)

The iliopsoas is a combination of the Psoas Major (full length) and the Iliacus (lower branch). (A third part is the Psoas Minor (upper branch), whose attachments are not specified here.)

O:  ventral surface of the TVP’s of T17-L5 and ventral surface of the ilium

I:    lesser (or minor) trochanter of the femur

A:  Hip: flexion and external rotation

Lumbosacral Junction: flexion

Lumbar spine: Lateral flexion
