Lesson 1,
Topic 1
In Progress
Approaching a Horse Already Tied Copy
Is the horse, and very importantly the other person (handling the horse), aware of your presence? You might easily cause an accident if you startle either of them. What is the horse’s attitude? What is the situation? Is it an appropriate time to approach?
If someone is handling/holding the horse, ask permission first. Positioning and initial contact guidelines above apply equally when the horse is already under somebody else’s control or tied.
