LEVEL 100 Large Animal Distance Learning certification course LAMP_DL_100
Course Description

In order to meet the busy schedules of many of our students, we are happy to provide a distance learning course as part of our Large Animal Massage Practitioner (LAMP) certification. 

In this portion of the Large Animal Massage Practitioner (LAMP) certification course, you will study the following: animal massage techniques, anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, equine behavior and handling, and first aid. This course is geared toward students wishing to enter the animal massage profession or animal enthusiasts wishing to greatly expand their knowledge base for personal use. This course focuses on massage for horses, while other livestock are discussed.

Course materials include the NWSAM course workbook, an anatomy text and supplemental guide, 90 minute DVD, quizzes and activities. Students also may use the online student center.

Each distance learning student is assigned an instructor. You can contact the instructor via email or phone as needed, and your instructor will respond quickly, usually in the same day.

PROGRAM COST
The total cost of the distance learning class is US$1500**.  The 5-day practical is $500.               

** A $20.00 Shipping and Handling fee will be added to your total when processing your application.

COURSE SYLLABUS

· LAMP100 Sect. 1 -- Behavior and Handling
Students will learn large animal behavior, handling and breed characteristics. This section also includes a study of large animal disciplines and how each relates to animal massage.
 
· LAMP100 Sect. 2 -- Anatomy and Physiology
Students will learn large animal anatomical structure and function. Areas of study include anatomical terms, skeleton, musculature and more.
 
· LAMP100 Sect. 3 -- Kinesiology
Students will study a variety of joint movements, physical structures, gait and conformational analysis, sources of lameness and a look at the horse-rider relationship.
 
· LAMP100 Sect. 4 -- Massage Technique and Practice
Students will learn a variety of massage strokes beneficial to the large animal. Additional modalities, including shiatsu, lymphatic work, stretching and energy work are investigated.
 
· LAMP100 Sect. 5 -- First Aid
Students will study large animal health, common ailments and emergency care.
